Prevent 1 for DSLs Training Online 10 July 2025
This a course designed for new DSL’s who are new to role and haven’t undertaken PREVENT training before or had involvement with PREVENT cases.
The aim of Prevent is to stop people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. Prevent also extends to supporting the rehabilitation and disengagement of those already involved in terrorism.
As part of the learning candidates will consider some of the ideology around terrorist views.
This training course will look at a case study around the prevention and disruption of a family involved with radicalisation and when to make a referral.
Alongside this time will be spent looking at how to write a school risk assessment and action plan for PREVENT.
The prevent duty guidance (2023) states that the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) or Prevent lead in the setting should receive more in-depth training, including on extremist and terrorist ideologies, how to make referrals and how to work with Channel panels. It is recommended that this training is updated at least every two years, enabling the lead to support other staff on Prevent matters and update them on relevant issues.
This training would be classed as Level 3.
This course is certified by the CPD Certification Service.
